A Quiet Sunday Dinner

It was nice to have a quiet Sunday dinner. With a little nip in the air and the trees just starting to change colors it seemed just the right weather for a pot of chicken soup.

Homegrown chicken, thick homemade stock, dehydrated carrots, celery and garlic. Rosemary and some salt and pepper. Simmered low and slow in a big iron pot.

Smothered summer squash with onions and bacon.

Hot homemade rolls.

Just a little comfort in a pot!

  1. I love your kitchen!
You do soup in your cast iron. I wondered if that was safe to do. I'm trying to learn about cast iron. i've heard a lot of good stuff about it.

What brand of stove do you have? I've considered getting a gas drop in top and having a separate oven for the farmhouse, but I'm not for sure yet.

We saw an oven that does dehydrating and I would love to have one. :)

Thanks for sharing this with us, CQ. Hope you're all having a wonderful Sunday.
