How about this: a Styrofoam ball with two pieces of wide wired ribbon brought up over it and tied with raffia. Can't get simpler than that!
My three oldest boys all went to a religious parochial school during the first 9 years of their academic careers. Each of the boys has one of these from the second grade. It has their name and their class and year simply wrote on a fake apple to hang on the tree. A keepsake from the teacher. in expensive, cute and they have held up for almost 30 years.
I have my little apple orchard on my tree every year. Those boys are now in their thirties.
One year I crocheted 50 of these as gifts for my cub scouts and my children's class mates. Each had a candy cane in it and could be hung on the tree.

I wish I could think out of the box. Those are all wonderful, CQ. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of crocheting! But those kind of ornaments last forever.
