Happy St. Patricks' Day

This week I am in a Maxine mood. Can't ya tell ? March is such a tease they are calling for temperatures today in the 70's. I want to go outside in short sleeves and dig in the dirt. O Wise One is planting potatoes and onions today. I have to stay inside though  because I have the flu. Just my luck. Fever, chills, sneezing and sinus congestion. It's all Baby Hank's fault because he gave it to me!

Like so many Americans we too celebrate being Irish today. They say everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day. O Wise One's family is truly Irish : ) He is of Ulster Scotts Irish heritage. His family originating from County Down, Killinchy, Northern Ireland. The picture below is the Killinchy Road. St Patricks tomb is in County Down also.

Above is Killinchy Presbyterian Church where most of both his great grandfathers and great grandmothers' ancestors are buried.  Below the home of his great great grandmother's family .

To celebrate we will be eating cabbage and potatoes and corn beef today. Anyone else out there Irish? How do you celebrate St. Patricks' Day

Happy St. Patricks' Day

  1. Gotta love Maxine! Too funny! I needed a laugh this morning:))))) We are a bit of Heinz 57 so must have some Irish in there somewhere. I'll have to go dig out a green shirt, make it a sweatshirt tho, 'cause we are only in the 40's today. Hope you feel better soon so you can enjoy all that sunshine!

  2. I'm not having cornbeef and cabbage today, but will be sharing cornbeef with guests on Monday...This is the first year the Cornbeef hasn't been on sale in 11 years, and I refuse to pay the $3.42 lb ..since it shrinks so much. I have a recipe to make my own and I just may do that for the rest of the year..I usually buy a few on sale to last until the next years sale.

  3. Really sorry to hear you're sick.
My youngest was sick yesterday. Fortunately it looks to have been just a 24 hour thing for him. I know he's glad to not be puking any more.

I hope you feel better soon, CQ! ♥

  4. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you! I'm not Irish, but my husband is. I did make it a point to have my sons grow up to love their heritage!

  5. The flu sucks.

I spent four hours washing my truck, cleaning the windows, polishing the wheel rims, polishing my truck, and putting blacky stuff on the black parts.

Yes, I did get corned beef and it's wonderful with Swiss cheese on sandwiches.

Tater tot casserole is supper because tater tots are Irish, don't you know? =P

Hope you are feeling much improved tomorrow so you aren't feeling icky over the weekend.

If I was there, I'd send you to bed and go on a batty cooking spree so you could rest!

Huge hugs and love you bunches and tons!
