Up,Up and Away... On My Beautiful Balloon !

As the summer of 2010 comes to an end we celebrate. It has been a long summer but a busy one. We welcomed a new grandbaby into the world and mourned the death of a dear and beloved pet. We planted and harvested. We spent months canning and preserving. Now we celebrate the harvest ever thankful for what we have. We celebrate family most of all. This Labor Day weekend O Wise One and I are celebrating. We loaded up the family and made a day of it. It was time for mama and papa to go to town! Both daughters Baby O and Fred,  Mr. Fred and grandkids Graci and Baby Hank. We all went to town.

There was a parade with firetrucks!

And marching bands!

Lots of good food! Caramel apples and hotdogs and kettle corn! Ever had chocolate covered bacon? Don't ! Fried Oreos ? Hard to mess up an Oreo !

It was a day of pictures!

And a balloon derby. Ever watched a ballon fill up with air in preparation of taking off?

Or fade into a beautiful blue summer sky?

Fading ever far away until they are just specks on the horizon.

It was a day of boyfriends. Baby O will be 15 next week! O Wise One ( aka Dadddy) is aging before my eyes. She gets her driving permit...... I will be aging then.  One good thing about it ....my hair is already as gray as it can get. I wonder if they allow teenagers in the rest home !

Our wonderful day of adventure draws to an end. The sun fades and the early night sky is lit with the glow of balloons landing. We retreat to our cars with tired sleeping kids and full hearts. Lots of family memories have been made today.  We return to Hickery Holler wrapped in the love of family. Tomorrow is a neighborhood barbeque so I will have to prepare food in the morning. But tonight I bask in family contentment and wish you all a Happy Labor Day Weekend.

Blessings From The Holler

  2. What a blessed day! By the time you are in a retirement home, they'll be well into adulthood. ;)

    Have a blessed week! ♥
