Sunday morning about daylight a storm moved through our area with torrential rains and high winds. We rose to this sight!
This old Maple Tree had to be atleast 100 years old. It had been here when we bought the place. Standing alone with a circle of gravel around it. This is where we sat after hot work for a little shade. This is where we had our picnic table beneath it's sprawling branches. I've sat beneath it and snapped beans and visited with neighbors and friends.
It's like saying goodbye to an old friend. The prairie is a hard place to live as the weather extremes can be deadly. No one is hurt however there is a picnic table and barbeque grill beneath there : ) Guess we won't be grilling on the 4th!
This one breaks my heart! This is a crabapple tree from Grandma Edna. I started this from a pencil size tree I dug up from under her tree. It has taken me 10 years to get crabapples from it. I so could taste that crabapple jelly. Alas it was not to be . We have others but this was the largest.
Blew over a rabbit pen but the rabbit is fine just shook up a little. Blew over my corn ! Darn it : )

Your storm moved into my area yesterday afternoon! So sorry you lost two great trees, but everyone else is ok! Thank the good Lord! It takes so long for the trees to grown, and then they are gone in a few minutes!
ReplyDeleteLots of bad weather wreaking havoc on friends' gardens.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear no one was hurt.
*Hugs*
Hope your week is better. ♥
