Spring At Last

If there was ever a time we needed spring it is this year. We just needed that promise that the plants are still growing and the birds are still singing and there is still hope. When your life revolves so much with nature a simple bloom means so much.

  2. Seems like when I think of you and your gardening skills, a post pops up! I must think of you more often!! Such a cool spring and a late garden, but the jade beans are finally coming up thick and lush. Hoping to reschedule knee surgery so it doesn't interfere with canning the green beans and making late beet pickles. Prayers for your wellness and good health for gardening. From Arkansas on a chilly and rainy day.

    1. Hope your thoughts are good! Lol It is a cool wet spring here as well. We had late frosts and our Jade beans are just coming up. O Wise One rescheduled cataract surgery and also carpel tunnel surgery. We did not want to risk exposure to the virus for minor surgeries that can easily be rescheduled.

  3. Your flowers are beautiful in the new holler and look at that rhubarb. Can't seem to grow it in Missouri. Got any secrets you'd like to share?

    1. Lots of amending the soil. They are fast growers that like lots of compost and rich soil. Once you get it established it lasts forever. I gave starts to half the neighbors in MO. Traded rhubarb starts for my raspberry starts once upon a time. Just a couple plants will keep you in rhubarb forever.

  5. It's good to see a post from you. We've noticed that it never really warms up in our neck of the woods until June, and today, May 25, it is cool and rainy. Well, that's okay, we need the rain. We have veggies in the ground and thanks to inspiration from your blog, I have plans for the produce. I enjoy the 'simple' things too, I hate to leave my house---have always enjoyed being at home.

    1. Oh Honey I am the world's worst when it comes to leaving my house. My oldest daughter says I was born for this "quarantine stuff"! My world other than my children is right inside this fence. Me and the Lord got this! June here is the start of our main gardening as well. I do plant some cool weather crops early such as potatoes and onions. Mustard greens, lettuce, beets and cabbage. Everything other than that if I get it in by the beginning of June I am happy.

  8. I started my garden in March since I was home from work due to Covid. Just covered the plants when frost threatened. You should see the plants now -- it's crazy how they have taken off with the warm weather! We're planning to move very soon, so I hope to get to enjoy at least a little bit of the harvest before we do.
