We have had some really windy days lately and with all that winds my oldest daughter called to tell us that their yard was full of falling pecans. O Wise One went over and picked up this half bucket full in just an hour or so. Hank helped pawpaw. We were glad to get them as our younger trees had very few nuts this year. I guess our trees, being smaller and younger trees, seemed to have not taken the drought as well as these older more mature trees. We were certainly thankful to get them and will pick up more as the season progresses as they have several trees in their yard. O Wise One enjoys sitting and peeling out pecans and walnuts as he watches tv at night. Looks like we will still have plenty of nuts for those holiday pies and candy.

Have a great day and don't work to hard :-)
Love pecan season. Our trees are in their off season , so far 75 lbs. This year verses 771 lbs. Last years selling season. Anymore picked up this year Will be for our freezer for roasting, prices to low to sale . Enjoy:)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteWe're in picking mode, too.
Have a blessed Sunday!
OH, I used to love picking up pecans with my Granny from the tree in her yard. And then using the nut cracker and picker to eat them. I do think I love pecans the most of all nuts because of the memories.
