Making Vanilla Flavoring

I started a new batch of vanilla flavoring last week. For those of you that have never done it, it is as simple as taking vanilla beans and putting them in a jar with vodka. Over time the vodka will take on the flavor of the vanilla. I usually let mine steep for at the least 3 to 4 months.  In about a month this stuff will smell like heaven. I ordered my vanilla beans online and paid $5.99 for 10 grade B beans. I will make probably 2 batches of vanilla flavoring with those beans. Enough to last me quite a while and then some. This also makes excellent gifts for the holidays. Just strain the beans out and put in small decorative bottles.

  7. I put 3 beans in a pint jar. They say you can use the beans more than once.
