Goodwill Toward Men

As the Christmas season rolls around for another year blog land is full of yummy recipes, cute gift ideas, things to do and places to go, and beautiful decorations for your home and tree. For the next week I am going to blog about something different. For the next week I will write a daily post about ways to help your fellow man. I hope you will visit and all of you will feel free to add suggestions.

Ye are the light of the world.A city that is sat on a hill cannot be hid.
St Matthew 5:14

  1. I would say ramping up those random acts of kindness. For instance, when I am in town I sometimes stop at Aldi where you have to put a quarter in a slot to get a cart. It's reimbursed later but often someone hands you a quarter if they meet you halfway between parking lot and cart rack. I turn down the quarter and ask them to do the same for the next person. It's not about the quarter, it's the act of being considerate that can be passed on. If we can start on on a very small scale imagine how it could blossom.

Next, if you know someone is struggling and needs help they may feel bad about taking charity. Offer them work even if only in exchange for what you would give them. Ask them to help move something heavy or lend a hand when two won't do. If they are tradesmen hire them to build something or fix something around your place, pay them for sewing or craft items you know they make. That way they are still earning their way.

  2. Great idea! This month I knocked $100 off the rent for my tenants. They had a death in the family and had funeral expenses. They in no way told me that to get me to help. I was happy to do it, everyone needs a break from time to time. They are one of these hard working families that had lost their home and ended up renting.
