My potato plants have set seed pods. This is the first time ever that I have had seed pods and am going to try to save the seed and plant them next year. They say they will not be the same as the parent but I am going to experiment anyway : )
Anyone out there ever tried this?

It takes ages!
ReplyDeleteTried it once, but our growing season isn't long enough and we didn't get a tuber big enough to survive the winter and be replanted to get real potatoes the next year.
I have never seen that before either but I just wanted to say I see now how potatoes and tomatoes can be related - I've noticed in the leaves before but the seed pods look like tomatoes in the picture :0)
ReplyDeleteThey do look like little tiny tomatoes. I grow indeterminate tomatoes that have leaves exactly like potatoes : )
DeleteI was just going to comment that it's interesting how the potato seeds resemble baby tomatoes haning there!
DeleteI would experiment and grow them also.
Amzing but then many strange things have been happening in nature this year.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Will be even more so to see how you do with them, CQ. :o)
ReplyDeleteI have never seen that before!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Potato Seed Pods. WOW! My parents planted potatoes every year (a lot of them) and I never saw that. Neat!
ReplyDeleteWe tend to get around to getting things planted a little later than we'd like. In any case, I have just noticed seed pods on some of the potatoes. Like others said above, I have never seen this before.
