I am experimenting with a new dishcloth design. Instead of making these dishcloths from heavy cotton yarn I am making than from a lighter weight cotton crochet thread. This is my first one and I am going to use it for a week or so to see how it holds up and performs before I make any more. I like that it is lighter weight and seems to have more texture to almost perform like a scrubbie. The great thing is that it dries out fast between uses and would be less likely to smell or sour. Anyone else out there tried this.

All your dish cloths look great! :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear how well these hold up. I have a bunch of the lighter crochet cotton that I need to work up into something and I don't care for the heavier cotton dishcloths.
ReplyDeleteYa know I think I prefer the lighter weight ones thus far.

DeleteI like to rinse my dishcloths in a 1-part-bleach/3-parts-water mixture. Do you think cotton crochet thread would hold up to that? Maybe I should try an experiment, too.
ReplyDeleteCharade probably not bleach. I don't bleach anything very often but rather like to drop my dishtowels in a pot of boiling water with a little soap added and let them soak for an hour or so then just wring them out and hang them to dry.
DeleteI haven't try this, but look forward to hearing how the lighter weight works. My mother-in-law 'sanitizes' hers for 30 seconds in the microwave to keep germs and odor down. I just rinse and hang outside.
ReplyDeleteI would love to know also! I love crocheted wash rags and pot holders, and what makes them even more special is that they were given to me as wedding gifts. I plan on sharing that tradition and gifting the same things when my family/friends get married. I might be 22, but by golly, I like tradition lol!!! LOVE your blog!!
ReplyDeleteI adore these lighter dishcloths. I saw your post on Blind Pig and Acorn!
ReplyDeleteI am also from Missouri~
