She's A Keeper : )

What a girl! Home schooled, farm raised and that baby of mine is quite the character. She called last night and took 4th place in the state with her essay winning her a $700 scholarship. We'll take it. Said she did not mind losing to the first place winner at all because her speech was stupendous : ) She was more nervous about using the right forks at the black tie affair. In her long red formal being escorted by a handsome young soldier in uniform provided from the local post she was quite the Cinderella.

Baby O has been doing this competition for years and has consistently done well. These kids represent some of the best of the best and many kids that she has met through this competition have remained her friends through the years. Many go on to Ivy league Universities and doing well in life. One of her best online friends met through this competition 3 years ago is now at Harvard Medical School. My little goat and hound dog loving farm girl feels privileged to be in their ranks.

Her biggest amazement was in the fact of how many of these kids this year are home schooled just like her. In an area where she is the only kid around that goes to school at home it does her such good to see other students doing well that go to school at home.

She has met several boys and I am sure that her father, who has accompanied her, is probably gnawing an arm off. Poor thing! It is hard for a man to have daughters : )

Hope everyone has a blessed Sunday and a safe week to come.

Blessings from The Holler

  1. I had no doubts she would win!!!

Home schooling is wonderful. I have met many who have done this and the children far exceed the educational requirements of their age groups. Good job, Mom and Dad.
