Bless My Bloomers

Summer has arrived with blistering heat and drying winds. Weeks of very little rainfall, if any. But the flowers bloom on. The Purple Coneflowers have come into their own this week. A native prairie plant that thrives under these conditions.

Daylillies are another perennial that stands the test of time. Blooming right on through the heat.

The yellow finches will love these seeds when they start to dry.

And it just wouldn't be summer without the Shasta daisies.

What's blooming in your garden?

  1. Don't you irrigate? II can't imagine relying on rain.

    1. Actually most years I irrigate very little. With a thick mulch and rich dirt most years we have more than adequate rainfall. If I do irrigate it is usually during a few weeks of late July and maybe early August. This year all the norms have flown out the window : )
